Who wants to be a millionaire?
The answer is “everyone,” right? Well, it sure seems like Caesars Entertainment is on its way to making that happen, one lucky winner at a time. Just this weekend, Byron Neel of Virginia won $1 million playing three-card poker at O’Sheas casino at The LINQ Las Vegas. Mr. Neel hit the six-card super royal flush on his $5 Millionaire Maker side bet, a hand worth a million bucks—a pretty fantastic retirement gift for his wife Linda!
Mr. Neel is the sixth million-dollar-plus jackpot winner at a Caesars property so far in 2015, bringing the all-time total of $1 million payouts to more than $1 billion. Since the launch of table game side bets in 2011, there have been 12 million-dollar winners, so 2015 could be on track to be a record year.
“Million-dollar table game jackpots are unprecedented,” said Melissa Price, senior vice president of gaming at Caesars Entertainment. “We offer players a chance for a life-changing table game jackpot that just doesn’t exist at other casinos.”
Four of the other million-dollar jackpot winners this year hit on Wheel of Fortune slot machines at Harrah’s Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas, The Cromwell and Harrah’s Laughlin, and one did so playing a PowerBucks Ghostbusters “Who Ya Gonna Call” slot at Paris. Progressive slots like these—interconnected games whose jackpot total keeps building until one of them hits—are perhaps the most common way millionaires are made in casinos.
In addition to side bets and progressives, Caesars Entertainment offers players a number of other ways to level-up to the million dollar club. The annual Millionaire Maker Slot Tournament, which is open to members of Caesars’ Total Rewards loyalty program, pits winners from regional National Slot League tournaments against each other in competition for a $1 million grand prize.
And, of course, there’s the World Series of Poker (WSOP), the biggest, most glamorous poker tournament on the planet, which not only offers a number of satellite events to entice players of all levels, but also practically guarantees million-dollar payouts for those who make it to the final table. The 2015 WSOP Main Event just wrapped, with the nine players left standing set to return for the finale in November.

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — A Fort Lauderdale woman walked into the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino earlier this week to celebrate her 60th birthday. She walked out a millionaire.
The woman, who asked not to be identified, won a $3.8 million jackpot Thursday morning playing a $1 slot machine.
It was the largest payout ever at a Seminole Tribe of Florida-owned gaming property.
The woman, who was staying the night at the new guitar-shaped hotel, had wagered a $5 bet before the jackpot was won.
'I am in absolute shock,' she said. 'You like to dream big but that's really big. That's not even in the ballpark of what you think you can win. That's a lottery. It still feels like a dream.'
